A corrugated conduit is a flexible tubing with a repeating ribbed (convoluted) profile. The ridges give it two advantages over smooth pipe: it bends easily around corners without kinking, and the air gaps between ribs add crush resistance while cutting weight. It is the standard protective sleeve for wires and cables in environments where rigid metal conduit would be too heavy, too costly, or impossible to route.

Split corrugated conduit (also called split wire loom conduit) has a longitudinal seam that opens like a tube. You lay wires into it without disconnecting connectors — ideal for retrofits, repairs, and harness assembly lines. Smooth (closed) conduit is a sealed tube you feed wires through from the end; it gives better ingress protection and a cleaner look. For most automotive and field-service work, split loom is faster to install; for sealed enclosures and outdoor runs, smooth closed conduit wins.

PE is the flexible outdoor specialist. It is softer and more pliable than PP or PA, with excellent low-temperature toughness and UV stability for exterior runs. Your corrugated conduit temperature rating must clear the worst case, not the average. For PP plan -20 ~ 80 °C; for PA -40 ~ 120 °C; for PE -40 ~ 80 °C with strong UV resistance. IP rating ranges from IP54 (indoor split loom) to IP68 (sealed smooth with proper fittings). Always pair tubing with a matching cable gland and sealed end cap to hit the rated ingress protection.
Inside diameters run from about 4 mm to 50 mm+. Match ID to your bundle's outer diameter with 15–25 % clearance so wires slide but don't rattle. A sample size chart:

Minimum bending radius is typically 3–5 × the outer diameter. A corrugated conduit bent tighter than that stresses the ribs and can crack PP over time; keep PE and PA bends generous on moving lines. Respect the bending radius and your conduit will outlast the equipment it protects.
Cut square with a sharp tubing cutter or hot knife — avoid crushed, angled ends that fray. For split wire loom conduit, cut along the seam so the opening stays aligned for the full length.
Secure every 200–400 mm with clip saddles or push-in mounts. Don't over-tension; leave slack at both ends so vibration and thermal movement don't pull the corrugated conduit off its fittings.
Terminate with a matching cable gland and sealed end cap. The gland sets your real IP rating, so size it to the conduit OD, not the wire bundle. For split loom, add a closure clip or heat-shrink at ends to keep wires enclosed.
